About

Matthew Niederberger

I've spent over 20 years working across almost every part of the marketing technology industry. One year on the vendor side, four years in agencies, four years brand-side, and the last 11 years as an independent contractor across 30 to 40 engagements spanning banking, insurance, pensions, travel, retail, beauty, broadcast, recruitment, and telecommunications.

Clients have included TUI, Thomas Cook, ABN Amro, Santander, ITV, Carfax, Bennetts Motorcycles, the Royal Commission for AlUla, and others I can't name but would recognise immediately if you work in European financial services or retail.

Martech Foundry exists because I kept running into the same problem: organisations that knew what they needed, had looked at what was available, and couldn't find anything that bent far enough. Custom builds are the answer to that problem, and 20 years of seeing how these decisions get made means I can scope, build, and deliver them without the usual risks attached to bespoke development.

“If I'm still here in a year, I'm not doing my job well enough.”

My working philosophy is simple. If I'm still embedded in a client's operations a year after I started, I haven't done my job well enough. The measure of a good engagement is that the team doesn't need me afterwards.

Martech Foundry is the build and delivery practice. For strategy, advisory, and the work that needs to happen before you're ready to build, that's Martech Therapy, which is where I write, podcast, and take on strategic engagements. Both sit under Piedmont, my independent practice.
